Group Fitness is looking to become a Community Interest Company because of our passion for fitness, nutrition and wellbeing of others.
We set out providing classes for our members but decided to go one step further and offer all our profits to free school places, the underprivileged and the obese.
We use what profits we make to hold seminars regarding the importance of fitness and nutrition to the wellbeing of all ages.
Whatever is left over is donated to the Alzheimer’s society as it very well documented that fitness plays a huge part in slowing the progression of the illness.
Becoming a CIC company opens up many avenues for us including applying for local grants to further our awareness regarding fitness, nutrition taking our experience and expertise
Outside of Amber Valley and into surrounding boroughs, our aim is to invite well-renowned fitness experts to hold seminars in community and leisure centres across the country.
Here they can give help and advice to inspire all ages on what it takes to achieve their goals, whether it is to lose weight, get fit or become an Olympic champion.

What We Will Be Doing as a CIC
We will be working with local schools to educate them on the benefits of exercise. This method will include 2 staff attending the schools and offering workshops to the children aged between 7-11 and 11-17- year-old students.
During these visits, we will be also offering advice on nutrition and how to avoid sugar, salt and unhealthy fats. The workshops are aimed at getting children, teenagers and students thinking about what they are putting in their bodies and the long-term benefits of thinking fit. It’s about encouraging them to think fit but enjoy being fit and the benefits that
It’s about encouraging them to think fit but enjoy being fit and the benefits that brings in the long term.
The Gym facility will be offered to schools at a discounted rate and in some cases FOC to allow students to come to the facility and work out in a different environment. Helping Disadvantaged People
We will be working with other disadvantaged groups including groups who are underprivileged but struggle with weight issues and exercise. We will offer the opportunity for 2 patients at a time from 4 local GP Practices, 8 in total per course the opportunity to have 8 weeks’ free fitness classes that will help them get a lifestyle change. This will be a rolling exchange programme that will work 52 weeks of the year, as a person finishes 8 weeks the GP can send another patient. The people finishing the course will be offered the opportunity to stay on and take part in classes at discounted rates, again helping with sustainability and full guidance.

All Abilities Training Together
The company is set up as a group training gym facility, that is designed to get people of all walks of life training in small groups. The gym works on a basis that all people of all abilities help push each other to get a basic form of fitness to build on. Our objective is functional movement with a variety of classes.
We encourage families working out together, therefore this develops a family lifestyle change. Example being we have families with children from 12 years of age upwards and they all work out in the same classes.
We also work with schools and will be working with the local GP Practices to help give the community a wider understanding of keeping fit at any age aligned with a healthy diet. As part of this project we will be offering free afternoon classes to children (aged between 7-10) and parents. The aim of the class is to get young children engaged and to show them the benefits of fitness, fun and education around eating/drinking the correct foods, sugar, salt etc.
Group fitness also runs classes for the elderly called and again this is something we are keen to develop. We have recognized that there are areas of the community that do not engage in any activity. These low-level classes are an introduction to keeping healthy.
The company will go out into the local community through schools and local GP Practices to offer fitness & dietary advice. Through these sessions, we will invite people from the community to try fitness and change their eating habits, examples for children would be less sugar and tackling obesity.
Group Fitness has already run 3 school camps for all age groups during the school holiday terms. We intend to develop these camps and where possible offer free places to children who come from under privileged backgrounds. The aim of the camp is to help with the understanding of a healthy lifestyle and developing a fitness attitude that will be the building blocks for their futures. All based around fitness and diet with the emphasis on Fun
We believe that age is no barrier and we encourage fitness from 12 years all the way through to the current oldest member who is 78 years of age.
